General information:
Joint chemotherapy and radiation start on Nov 20th. The radiation makes the cancer more susceptible to the chemo, so both at once is the strongest approach.
10/20 4pm- the before photo, mass visible on neck

10/24 11am- at check in

10/24 1pm- getting prepped

10/24 3pm- keeping ourselves occupied while waiting for the surgeon


10/24 4:50pm- rolling out to surgery

10/24 5:30pm- procedure has started, now we wait

10/24 6:55pm- doctor is beginning the closing process
10/24 7:00pm- dad spoke with doctor, fairly good news overall. Doctor was quite concerned prior to the procedure, but pleased with how it turned out. Main/important nerves were kept intact, but the nerve for lifting the left shoulder could not be spared so she will need physical therapy
10/24 7:30pm- procedure is complete, care will continue in the recovery unit
10/24 7:45pm- looking good!

10/24 10:00pm- dad is headed home for the night, mom is resting. More updates to come tomorrow
10/25 11:45am- still in the PACU, not yet moved to a room

10/27 7:00am- Mom says “Got these pics from one of the young surgeons. At the bottom you can see the jugular vein theat the tumor had already taken over.” I have just learned a person can live with a portion of jugular missing, now isn’t that fun.



10/27 11:45am- Anita is visiting!

10/27 8:00pm- Grandpa is visiting!

10/28 11:45am- going to get drain removed. Today she’s going home!

10/28 6:00pm-making beef stew with loyal followers at her heel
